Goals Update

Hello everyone! This may be short and sweet in an effort to get to bed early. However, it has been a while and I feel the need to check in. As you can probably tell, the goals I set in the past have not worked out the way I wanted them to. I’m still trying to learn and figure out what works for me.

Every time I get on a roll, my routine is disrupted by travel or a spontaneous night out that leads to a lazy hangover day or it’s half-term and my entire day has completely shifted.

Like I said, I’m learning.

Right now, I’m in a good routine. I’m cleaning and staying organised and learning my Italian. I’ve realised that the days I’m the most productive are on Sundays. I forgive myself for wasting Saturdays because I will get everything done on Sundays. If I’m dead tired one day and don’t put my clothes away, I get back on my feet and do it the next day. It has been a huge shift in realising what is realistic. For example, I wrote this post yesterday, but I was realistic and didn’t post it because that would have pushed back my bedtime by at least half an hour. It’s progress!

So, what has been working?

I’ve started doing a very VERY simplistic version of a bullet journal. I sectioned out my life into three sections: personal, health, home. From there, I picked a daily routine to work on and a weekly routine to work on. This will change over time. I’ll pick routines that work and move on to my next goal. I’ll grow. I want to be able to workout a few times a week, but I’m being realistic at the moment knowing I cannot make that work for me right now.

I’ll keep you posted. I’m fully keeping track of how I’m doing and where I’m going next. Right now, this is my breakdown:

Personal – Italian (daily) and blogging (weekly)
Health – Drink 3L of water (daily) and workout (weekly)
Home – Tidy (daily) and big clean (weekly)

That’s all for me! I will let you know how this is all going in about a month. Right now, I’m feeling confident in my abilities. I’ve already come so far compared to where I was at the beginning of the year.

If you have any tips about how to keep a good routine, let me know in the comments below!

Is fall not the best reading season? I’m so glad I’ve had a few opportunities to sit on the front porch, wrapped in a fuzzy blanket with a hot drink and my book. Right now, it’s raining outside and all I want to do is cozy up and get back to my book. I’ve read some great non-fiction in the past six weeks. I’m learning so much about how people relate to the world around them. That is so important to me. Check them out! The Reason I Jump: The Inner Voice of a Thirteen-Year-Old Boy with Autism – Naoki Higashida – 4 Stars         This is a very short book that I think everyone should read – particularly those who work with children. Although knowledge has come a long way, there is still so much more to be learned about autism. This book is a series of question that Naoki Higashida answers from his point of view. Interspersed is also a handful of short stories from Higashida’s point of view.         It’s an incredible book. It’s something that really allows readers to understand ho
