Monthy Favourites- March 2015

Summary of this month in one word: mono. I swear this will be the last time I mention I'm sick, but it has completely dominated this entire month. I've been sick since the 13th! I was sick on my birthday! So naturally, a couple of my favourites have been based on the fact that I was cooped up in my house for two weeks. Real talk: I have grown to really hate bras because I did not wear one for that entire fortnight. Can that be noted as a monthly non-favourite? Favourite App: [source]  As I mentioned in last week's outfit post, there was a mishap with my laptop, so Songza has fallen out of my life in the past week. However, I was using it so much up until that point. Songza is a music playing app that has curated playlists designed for certain moods or events. My sister used it to play some classy music for a party on the weekend. I don't have access to it at the moment so I can't tell you my favourite playlists, but there was one very calming one I like

Once again, I would like to add a little disclaimer and mention that I may not have much to say about this outfits since I am digging them out of my camera roll. I also started this post when I did  last week's , and thank goodness I did, because due to an unfortunate mishap with my laptop, I no longer have immediate access to my pictures and files. I went back to school this week, but this pictures are still old. I'm still adjusting to being back to real life. And the long awaited wine and cheese birthday party was last night! It was a very successful night, and now I have a ton of fancy cheese leftover. I'm in heaven. Tuesday-  I had duo-inspiration on this outfit. The first came from Make it Last (how gorgeous is this woman?). I loved the idea of leather over the knit sweater. But as necklaces have become a thing of mine recently, I added the statement necklace, courtesy of J's Everyday Fashion.  I added both pictures, just so you could see where I'm coming fr

Book Review- Memoirs of An Imaginary Friend by Matthew Dicks

I cannot believe I have not done a book review since January ! This book, as well as another, has been finished for quite some time now. I have been excited to write about this book. If you know anything about me and my reading habits, you know that my favourite books are classified as having an interesting narration. It is told from the perspective of an imaginary friend named Budo, and this book had me hooked from the start. I had been eying for it a while, but I thought it was my mom’s. She swears I bought it myself, so the origin of this book to my collection is completely unknown.  Skip to the end if you want my overall impression. 1.        It’s strange how teachers can go off to college for all those years to learn to become teachers, but some of them never learn the easy stuff. Like making kids laugh. And making sure you know they love them (9). This quote spoke to me because it is something I completely agree with. Teaching is what I want to do with my life. But the rea

So this week is going to be a little different. I mentioned on Tuesday's post that I was sick, and that has not changed. I am medically unable to be at school for both this week and next week. I had some outfits from a while ago saved on my computer, and I'm going to post some now, and some next week. It's almost like something in the universe planned this for me! On second thought, that would not be nice because I am rather sick. I assure you all that I am on the way to a good recovery. Despite the fact that this will be the fourth time I have been sick on my birthday (which is tomorrow), I am keeping in good spirits! And nothing will stand in the way of next week's party! I am determined! Side note: I don't know if I'll have much to say about these outfits. Chances are, the specific days on them are wrong too. But you get the gist. Wednesday- I think J's Everyday Fashion is one of my top copied blogs. I love her style, and she essentially does the sa

Pinterest Challenge- One Bowl Brownies

It's been a while since I've done one of these! The last time I did the Pinterest Challenge was January,  but the last time I baked something for it was Brownie in a Mug.  I clearly love my brownies. Let me tell you, I have used this recipe from Life Tastes Good  many times. I have a friend who has some kind of potluck every few months, and I brought these the first time. The only reason her dad knows my name is because I was the one who brought the brownies. I've brought them for other occasions, and they have always been a hit. And once, I made these when I was bored and my sister's boyfriend and I sat at the kitchen table and ate half the pan while watching YouTube videos. Just a couple notes before we dabble into this: I was worried about the thickness of the batter and the addition of kosher salt, but trust me, I would not be giving this to you if it was a sub-par recipe. And second, the timing always seems to be different whenever I do it, so make sure you really

First thing you will notice is that there is no Friday outfit. I am sick. It started with three lumps in my neck, and now I have symptoms ranging from a fever to tonsils so swollen that it sounds like I'm choking when I talk. Sorry if that grosses you out. So I stayed home from school on Friday, and we'll see how this week goes. I'm still sick in bed today, and I have blood test results coming in tomorrow, so hopefully this all works out for the better! Good news is that I took the time to paint my nails this week! I even did it again yesterday. Hopefully this is a thing that will stick in my routine. I've missed it. Tuesday- This was one of those outfits that I changed to fit what I have in my closet. I took the idea from Scribd and used the pattern and colour to create my own look. Although, I 've said it before and I'll say it again, I need more cardigans! I have two blue cardigans like this, but I would love some more colour options.   Cardigan- Old

Monthly Favourites- February 2015

I know this is coming to you late, but February went by so fast that it took me longer to figure out what my favourites were! I typically keep a list going, but this one was tricky. February was a good month though. I got spend a few days on a ski trip with my dad while I was on reading week, and I had some good nights out with friends. I also got really into party planning with Marlee , so things were really exciting! I also got some very exciting news (see #2) this month. For me February was more about keeping my eyes on the future. 1. Favourite App [source] It was back in my October favourites that I mentioned how much I love Instagram. That is even more true nowadays, and that is all thanks to VSCO Cam.  At the moment, I have 16 edited pictures all ready for future Instagram use. And I swear not all of them are selfies! This app makes me feel like I have a hint of talent for photography because the editing tools really do work to enhance my pictures in a gr

Yes. It has been a while since I have done this. I have started my spiral into the last month of school. As a good friend (whom I appreciate more and more every day) pointed out to me, I tend to put schoolwork off and then I get so behind that I start to stress myself out and lose sight of all that is important. Which includes posting things. Good news is, I have at least a week of extra outfits saved on my laptop for when school is over and it become hermit time for me. I'll keep you posted on what will be happening come April/May. It's Saturday night, but this week seems so far away for me. I don't know what's going on, but I overslept my alarm every day for at least half an hour. You can tell by Thursday and Friday because the state of my hair just declines. Hopefully I can get my energy back next week! Tuesday- Real live quote from a friend: "Of course you have a sweater with a zebra on it." Apparently, this sweater is a complete reflection of who I am.

The Terrible Teens

Welcome to March people (February monthly favourites are coming, I promise!)! March is my birthday month, and this year, I will turning 20. And to be honest with you, I cannot wait to be 20. I know this is going to be a huge year based on a multitude of things, but for the most part, I am looking forward to leaving teen years in the past. Although 19 has been a fantastic year based on the past 6 months alone, I am ready to start the adult phase in my life. Why? Because I have been judged by my age too many times. I purposely keep my age withheld when I meet people because I them to know me for my personality. Allow me to explain. [source] I n first year of university, my best friend brought me to a few parties. She is a year older than me and her friends are two years older. I met people, had a good time, and made a few friends. Then came the question “hey Daniella, do you want to come to so-and-so bar this weekend” to which I replied with a very squeaky “I’m underage.” Not a bi
