Monthly Favourites- September 2014

Here we are again! I am back to my monthly favourites! As un-grammatical as the title is, I love this post. I love sharing the things that I used or did frequently throughout the month. But let me tell you, it was not easy to come up with a fifth one. It wasn't until a week ago where I got addicted. So therefore, it counts. This month was a ton of fun. It was certainly an odd feeling to be back at school after four months of not having a schedule! So far, only one of my classes is not the best and I'll be done with that in December! I kept saying that I have a good feeling about this year, and if the rest of it goes the way September did, then my feelings will prove me right for sure! 1. Favourite School Tool Is this not the most adorable planner you have ever seen? It is the Kate Spade "Bella Bookshelf" Agenda  Before school, I was at Chapters with a friend, and she told me that she had one of these for the last school year. It was a little pricey, but  I ...

Copycat the Cool Way #8

I think I have a new Saturday routine. Wake up, go to work, go to bed (because napping for 5-6 hours isn't actually a nap anymore), and then wake up and write blog posts. As I write this right now, I  have realized that I have misplaced my list for my monthly favourite post. I know I scribbled it on notes I was taking for a class, but I can't remember which class it was. Whoops. It was also one of those weeks where I forgot to take pictures the day of. So it all happened about half an hour ago. The thing I don't like about it is that you can't see the jewelry I was wearing or for this week, the shoes I was wearing. So I am sorry, and I will try to get better! Tuesday- I was pretty excited to check the weather and see that it was kind of warm! Unfortunately, in transitional seasons, it is usually cold in the morning and HOT later. So you either get to freeze in the morning, or sweat later in the day. And of course, you have to take classroom temperatures which tend to ...

Letting People Go

For those of you who have started a new phase in their life- like your first year of university - then you may have already found out something important; it is completely different. You have to learn how to transition from one phase to another and come out of it as a better person. You are expected to grow and learn and try new things and find yourself.   Maybe that’s easier said than done. I, personally, have had two major transitions in my life, and both involve moving from different stages of the school system. Only last year, I was moving into university for the first time and I was so ready. Unfortunately, high school was just not my place to shine. I thought things were okay, but looking back now, I have realized why I am a better person than I was in high school.      [source] Don’t get me wrong, high school had its merits, but the worst part about it for me was getting wrapped up in the changing values. Or in my particular case, NOT gett...

Copycat the Cool Way #7

Some days, you don't realize how tired you are until you have a nap and you just don't wake up for six hours. It has been a long week. I have a lot of catching up to do, and although, today was intended to do half of my work, that did not exactly happen. But I feel like I needed that nice long sleep. In other news, I finally had a chance to watch Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 with my dad. I've already seen it (more than a lot), but I've been itching to get him to watch it. This week was a good one though. I had a wonderful formal night with the soph team, so you get a picture of that! Tuesday- I just so happened to get this shirt on a major sale, and it is so comfortable! I never really understood the whole wrapping another shirt around your waist thing, but it makes sense-it makes it totally acceptable to wear otherwise not so great looking clothes! I also wore my favourite ever Oxfords again! I got my inspiration from Je M'Appelle Stephani.  Ba...

Book Review- A Treatise On Shelling Beans by Wieslaw Mysliwski

So this book took me way too long to read. I read before bed to shut my brain off, but I was so exhausted all summer that I was asleep as soon as I got into bed. It has been a long time, but I finally finished it! I took a good handful of quotes that sparked my thinking, so brace yourself! And if you’re interested in the tradition summer, you can find it here . 1.        When people can be divided by something they always will be (9). Just think-the only thing that really divides us as people are differences. If we see someone who is a fraction of a fraction different than us, our minds consider it division. Why is that? Why must we let things get in the way of relationships?   2.        All the more because if you ask me, these days the soul is a commodity like anything else. You can buy it and sell it, and the prices aren’t high (28) A popular book genre of the modern era is “self-help.” Lumped with that...

Copycat the Cool Way #6

One week into school and I’m already not posting when I say I’m going to be posting! In my defence, I was home for approximately two hours tops. It was a long long day of work and training. Also, I forgot to take pictures during the week, so I took them all this morning. But hey, I’m learning (and not just in school)! My outfit posts will be a little shorter this year, but because I have only four days of classes. Unless you want to see my weekly pyjama choice, then I’ll leave my Mondays out! This week was so odd to me. It was the weirdest feeling to be at school for a full week and NOT for O-Week purposes! But I managed! All my classes are really interesting so far, and I have had a good feeling about this year from the beginning. I have a lot of good outfits planned too! So here is my first week of outfits: Tuesday- The weirdest thing about this day is that it was half cold and half warm. Or I can just be a normal person and call it humid. My skin was cold, but I was sweating...

Pinterest Challenge- Zax Sauce

Today has involved a lot of sleep, a long line, and working with no voice. This is that aftermath of O-week. I regret nothing. It was the most incredible week of my life, and I leave it feeling so fulfilled. However, my life is so disorganized right now. I'm surprised that I remembered to write a blog post (pay no mind to the fact that it is really down to the wire). I took these pictures knowing that I would want something easy to do when I got back from the week away. Excuse me for the awful editing on the number 8. I tried to fix it, but my brain is simply too tired and I ended up messing it all up. So you will just have to deal with this.     Ingredients: 1/2 cup mayonnaise 1/4 cup ketchup 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder 1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce Black pepper    Instructions: 1. Add 1/2 cup of mayonnaise. 2. Add 1/4 cup of ketchup. 3. Add 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder. 4. Stir all together. 5. Add 1/4 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce...
