First of all, I can’t believe it’s the end
of April. This time has really flown by here. I have only five weeks left of my
placement (whoop whoop), and I’ll be home before I know it!
This month has been . . . tough. I hit a
bit of a breaking point on Friday, cried a lot, spent hours talking to my
sister, and I’ve been pulling myself back up.
The end is so close, but day to day is so
difficult.
I miss having good people in life. I miss
having people who really understand me. I miss laughing with my family.
I’m
homesick. It happens.
The good thing is that everything has flown
by so quickly so far, so all I need to do is blink and it will be over.
Anyway, here are the things that really got
my through this April:
1. Cake Decorating Instagrams
[source] |
I don’t know why this has happened to me, but I am now following 30 different cake decorating hashtags on Instagram and a solid handful of cake accounts.
I am mesmerised. I love
anything to do with watching the cakes actually being decorated.
Possibly unpopular
opinion: I hate drip cakes. I know they’re kind of a thing right now, but I
think it’s so unnecessary.
This new addiction does
make me want cake on a daily basis, but I’m not mad about it.
If you know of any other
good accounts, please let me know.
2. Herbal Essences Oil Elixir
I don’t know if you
remember, but I have already
reviewed this product when I got it for free from a company.
At the time, I really didn’t
like it. I was naïve back then.
I have a rigorous hair
routine. I wash my hair every four days, and I always make it wavy on the last
day (thanks grease).
Now that I have this
routine really established, I’ve been using this oil on those curling days. It
has made a big difference.
Putting it in on that last
day makes my hair feel just as soft as it would if I were to have washed it the
night before.
I have been putting a bit
on my palms, rubbing them together, and putting it on the ends of my hair when
I tousle it all up.
Honestly, it has been
wonderful, and I apologise to Herbal Essences for an innocent mistake.
3. Young Sheldon
Has anyone else been
watching this show? I’ve been watching it with Matt, and we LOVE it!
If you have no idea what I’m
talking about, it’s a spin-off from Big Bang Theory about Sheldon Cooper
growing up.
The show is so well done.
All of the characters are brilliant. Matt and I are constantly changing our
minds about who is the best actor.
It’s also more emotional
than you would think. There was an ending to one episode that had us both in
absolute tears.
I think it gives us a
great perception of Sheldon as he is as an adult when we go back to watch BBT.
4. Sweet Petites Strawberry
Cheesecake Bites
[source] |
So it turns out it is really
difficult to find a picture of this before today.
I am OBSESSED with these
snacks. I picked them up at Home Bargains on a whim, and they are my new
favourite.
It’s less cheesecake and
more white chocolate, but it’s yummy nevertheless. However, if you’re not into
sweet things, don’t go for it.
There’s a small biscuit on
the bottom, a bit of jam in the middle, and it’s covered in white chocolate.
Just try it, okay?
5. Facebook Groups
I feel like I’m going to
sound old saying this – I am amazed at how much society is connected by the Internet
these days.
I am a part of a Facebook
group for readers of Carly the
Prepster (which has been one of my favourite blogs since 2016 as seen in this
post), and it is all about women coming together to share tips and ideas
and stories and recommendations.
In today’s world, how
often do you find groups of people from all over the world that are so
connected by one common interest?
It’s a positive community
full of amazing women. I have had people reach out to me for advice about
studying abroad, and I’ve commented on personal experiences that other women
are curious about.
From that group, I’ve also
joined a book club group that just finished our first discussion of The Last Mrs. Parrish by Liv
Constantine. How cool is that?
Basically, I can’t wait to
see what else the world comes up with to stay connected to like-minded
individuals.
There’s my April!
I have a long weekend next weekend and one
week off at the end of May, so hopefully I’ll have some exciting things going
on to report back to you at the end of the month.
What exciting things are on your April
favourites? Have you tried any of this stuff?
Daniella
