March in Pictures

True to my word from last month, I have certainly done more in March. However, it certainly feels like this month has dragged on. I was utterly shocked when a co-worker made me aware that it was only Tuesday today.

This post was really fun to make. I’ve been sitting here thinking I’m tired because of work, but maybe it has something to do with how much I’ve actually been up to this month!

One of the best parts of this month has been the increase in light. I find my mornings are going so much better because I’m not getting up in pitch dark night. It is a small thing that makes the biggest difference. Not going to work in the dark and coming home from work in the dark has been a lot easier on my mental health.

At the beginning of the month, I took a visit to see my good friends in Cardiff. It was the most wonderful weekend away. I have a weird relationship with Cardiff. I love it so much as a city. To me, it feels like home. I absolutely hated the physical space I was in and it’s linked to a lot of bad mental health memories, but it was like a homecoming.

Pancake day was earlier this month! I came home to a full, fancy spread from Matt that night. Once in a while, he likes to go over the top with something. It is the cutest little surprise, and it’s one of my favourite things about him.

Speaking of Matt, we have been spending a lot of time together this month. I think I’m finally starting to get a bit of a work/life balance, and he has been so supportive. As a result, we’ve managed to go out on a few little dates. Again, it’s another thing that has made me incredibly happy.

World Book Day was earlier this month! My department went for Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and I instantly got myself the best Violet Beauregard costume. It was so fun to do this at school. I got myself a lot of books from the book fair and one of my students still calls me Mrs. Blueberry!

I tried a new restaurant this month called Las Iguanas. Matt has the palate of a three year old (bread, meat, fries, and chocolate), and there were still plenty of options for him. They take my allergy seriously, and the food is amazing. Highly suggest.

It was my birthday last week and I simply had to treat myself to a free birthday Starbucks drink. I also desperately needed the coffee.

There’s my March! I’m off work for Easter for a couple weeks in April, and there are a lot of plans in the works for that time off. I want next month’s post to be as enjoyable and packed as this one!

What was the highlight of your month? Reach out and let me know!

Is fall not the best reading season? I’m so glad I’ve had a few opportunities to sit on the front porch, wrapped in a fuzzy blanket with a hot drink and my book. Right now, it’s raining outside and all I want to do is cozy up and get back to my book. I’ve read some great non-fiction in the past six weeks. I’m learning so much about how people relate to the world around them. That is so important to me. Check them out! The Reason I Jump: The Inner Voice of a Thirteen-Year-Old Boy with Autism – Naoki Higashida – 4 Stars         This is a very short book that I think everyone should read – particularly those who work with children. Although knowledge has come a long way, there is still so much more to be learned about autism. This book is a series of question that Naoki Higashida answers from his point of view. Interspersed is also a handful of short stories from Higashida’s point of view.         It’s an i...

Book Review- A Treatise On Shelling Beans by Wieslaw Mysliwski

So this book took me way too long to read. I read before bed to shut my brain off, but I was so exhausted all summer that I was asleep as soon as I got into bed. It has been a long time, but I finally finished it! I took a good handful of quotes that sparked my thinking, so brace yourself! And if you’re interested in the tradition summer, you can find it here . 1.        When people can be divided by something they always will be (9). Just think-the only thing that really divides us as people are differences. If we see someone who is a fraction of a fraction different than us, our minds consider it division. Why is that? Why must we let things get in the way of relationships?   2.        All the more because if you ask me, these days the soul is a commodity like anything else. You can buy it and sell it, and the prices aren’t high (28) A popular book genre of the modern era is “self-help.” Lumped with that...
