Goals Update - February 2020

After my own realisation of my life motto, I have a newfound appreciation for my goals. I am doing what I need to do in order to be successful this year. I need carry on with my relentless pursuit at being a better person. I have the best of intentions for each step, and I find myself looking ahead to figure out what the next thing on my list should be. I’m approaching this with a much more positive outlook than I ever have before.

In my last goals update post, I mentioned that I was working on journaling. I’ve mentioned in the past how I think journaling is one of the best things to do for yourself. It’s an excellent form of self-care, you can whine about things just to get it off your chest, and you have amazing memories to look back on. So far, I have missed maybe only four days. I even brought it on the two trips I went on this week so I could record my adventures.

After I completed three weeks of that, I decided to focus on getting to bed at a decent time. My brain tends to come alive at night and I never go to bed at a decent time. I can function like that, but it’s really affecting Matt. As a result, I asked Matt to give me a “bedtime” so he could hold me accountable. We only stick to it on weeknights to account for movie nights and nights out.

It has been working really well. I’ve started an online course and having a set time to be in bed as helped with juggling work time, relax time, and preparation time. If it wasn’t half-term this week, I would have been nearing the end of the three weeks, but I’m only seven days in. I’ll be right back on it tomorrow.

That’s all for me! It’s short an sweet as a result of all my travels in the week. Stay tuned for the post about that. What have you been doing to improve yourself?

Is fall not the best reading season? I’m so glad I’ve had a few opportunities to sit on the front porch, wrapped in a fuzzy blanket with a hot drink and my book. Right now, it’s raining outside and all I want to do is cozy up and get back to my book. I’ve read some great non-fiction in the past six weeks. I’m learning so much about how people relate to the world around them. That is so important to me. Check them out! The Reason I Jump: The Inner Voice of a Thirteen-Year-Old Boy with Autism – Naoki Higashida – 4 Stars         This is a very short book that I think everyone should read – particularly those who work with children. Although knowledge has come a long way, there is still so much more to be learned about autism. This book is a series of question that Naoki Higashida answers from his point of view. Interspersed is also a handful of short stories from Higashida’s point of view.         It’s an i...

Copycat the Cool Way #2

I admit that I am a little late with this post. Things have been insane school-wise so I haven’t been keeping up to date with all my posts. Or anything for that matter. Plus, I got a new phone and I had to figure out how to get all the pictures from my old phone on to my laptop. Ugh. The following blurb is an imitation of my brain: duibqieufbijenwcijaaiojcfpo wijojndwqioNQIOENFONIONICQNINQ/ what? Descriptive right? Bear with me, I’m pre-writing a couple posts while I’m focused on blogging. I got you covered. Monday- Probably my favourite pants ever. They’re super comfy, but it can be tough to style them. I took the inspiration from a picture from a magazine (I think it might have been Glamour). It was also a spring day in Canada (did not last long), so I wanted to keep it cool temperature-wise. I have a blue cardigan that I typically wear instead of the scarf. Also, rainboots. Buy rainboots. They are the best for the icky, slushy, melty weather that is just around the corn...
