Journal Jump Back

It is not a secret that I love journaling. It has been something that has kept me going through my entire life. As a result, I have so many journals from over the years.

I started reading some of my old journals this past week and laughed at myself. I was pretty much boy obsessed and I’ve never been good at staying on track with my goals. In other words, I haven’t changed that much.

I thought it would be fun to share some of my past entries from May 9th over the years. I’m adding my own comments in, but I’m not changing the punctuation so don’t judge!

May 9, 2006

You know the drill. I’m really sorry. Another bad day.

You have to admire my directness.

May 9, 2007

I’ve noticed that Kullen talks to me all the time (New boy at school. I was obsessed.) I had a very hot day. We were sweating like crazy when we were skipping (ew).  I went to watch the other skipping to cool off. That turned into a basketball game with Kullen. I lost (obviously). In gym class, we started high jump. Kullen talked through the whole thing. I did my best to ignore him this time (ahaha, what a goody two shoes). . . . I volunteered to clean brushes. Brian (who was supposed to be helping) started splashing us. That led to a water fight. It was fun (Isn’t this elementary school version of flirting?).

May 9, 2013 – Cleveland Band Trip – Day One

Matt (not the Matt from today times) did a cute waist grab thing last week. And he’s been doing a slight hand-hold thing lately. I feel like we’re making some steps (We weren’t. I liked him for a loooooong time and I took him to my prom, but he stopped talking to me after that).. . . .I slept the whole trip here (literally have not changed). We stopped at the Motown museum, that was pretty cool. Then we came to the hotel and a restaurant called Night Town. Holy crap, that was amazing. There was a live band and we were singing, dancing and it was so sweaty (Why is this a theme on May 9th?) and fun it felt so good (This is why I was born to love nights out).

May 9, 2020 – Lockdown, Day 47

For being so tired last night, I had trouble sleeping (as I did for all of lockdown because of the anxiety nightmares). It was my ears. They’re really bad today (This was a particularly bad flair up and I completely forgot that this happened) . . . I had another lovely conversation with Papa and Nonna today (highlight of lockdown weekends last year). . . . Matt and I had a great evening together. We made ribs, had garlic bread, and watched Bob’s Burgers until it was late. We also listened to some of our favourite songs from our preteen years (Turns out we both like Kelly Clarkson). . . .I love evening like this so much.

That’s all from May 9! It was slim pickings!

This is an entirely new format, but it was fun to look back. Let me know if you like it.

Have you journaled in the past? What is the funniest thing you have come across?

Is fall not the best reading season? I’m so glad I’ve had a few opportunities to sit on the front porch, wrapped in a fuzzy blanket with a hot drink and my book. Right now, it’s raining outside and all I want to do is cozy up and get back to my book. I’ve read some great non-fiction in the past six weeks. I’m learning so much about how people relate to the world around them. That is so important to me. Check them out! The Reason I Jump: The Inner Voice of a Thirteen-Year-Old Boy with Autism – Naoki Higashida – 4 Stars         This is a very short book that I think everyone should read – particularly those who work with children. Although knowledge has come a long way, there is still so much more to be learned about autism. This book is a series of question that Naoki Higashida answers from his point of view. Interspersed is also a handful of short stories from Higashida’s point of view.         It’s an i...

Copycat the Cool Way #2

I admit that I am a little late with this post. Things have been insane school-wise so I haven’t been keeping up to date with all my posts. Or anything for that matter. Plus, I got a new phone and I had to figure out how to get all the pictures from my old phone on to my laptop. Ugh. The following blurb is an imitation of my brain: duibqieufbijenwcijaaiojcfpo wijojndwqioNQIOENFONIONICQNINQ/ what? Descriptive right? Bear with me, I’m pre-writing a couple posts while I’m focused on blogging. I got you covered. Monday- Probably my favourite pants ever. They’re super comfy, but it can be tough to style them. I took the inspiration from a picture from a magazine (I think it might have been Glamour). It was also a spring day in Canada (did not last long), so I wanted to keep it cool temperature-wise. I have a blue cardigan that I typically wear instead of the scarf. Also, rainboots. Buy rainboots. They are the best for the icky, slushy, melty weather that is just around the corn...
